Hi, my name's Karen and I love your site. My range comfortably goes from D3 - E6, not much agility, for instance I can't do any of those fast runs like Ms Aguilera! In the past I have hit C3 and G6 during periods of lots of training. I can belt my chest comfortably to D5, however my falsetto has kind of a 'weak' quality to it from E4 to B4, then gets really strong again. Any ideas what I am? I've been told everything in the past from contralto to lyric soprano! Many thanks.

@shopaholic: My guess is that you are a Lyric Contralto due to the range you belt in and the restrictions that apply to your agility! I'd have to actually hear your voice to get a better impression.

@Hotyire2: I could give it a go!:D

Thanks to both of you for commenting! :D

Thankyou, that's very helpful (It's Shopaholic/Karen here). I would also please like to request profiles of Shirley Bassey, Fergie from BEP, Buble and Stevie Wonder. I know you don't usually do guys, but Stevie Wonder's voice has always fascinated me - so powerful yet so flexible! I saw Fergie live (supporting Christina Aguilera) and she was quite something. x

Hi, thanks for the info you provided here. My lowest note is D3, and my highest is G5, what does that make me? I can't seem to find my category in your chart.

F2- C5
Any idea what I am?
My voice is very deep in general..

Hi! :)
My vocal range is F3 to C5, what is my range? I get confused since in Women's Choir my last semester at school, before summer, I was placed as an Alto 1

divadevotee said...

@ Francisco Cabana: I'm guessing you are a type of counter tenor, or perhaps even a tenor altino, as your range is quite high. But of course this all depends on where your voice splits between the chest and the head, and how comfortable you are in your lower range.

@Birger: You are possible a Baritone if you can reach the lower notes easy or you could be a tenor depending on where your voice breaks.

@shelly: I think you probably are an Alto- considering you can reach two notes below the bottom required for a mezzo-soprano,which is the soprano with the lowest range, and you are an octave below reaching the soprano high C.

Sorry for the late reply guys and girls. Remember I'm not a vocal teacher. They would be able to asses your voice way better than I ever could. Besides it also depends on the colouring, weight and the breaks in your voice-amongst loads of other things- to really try to fit someone into a vocal fach accurately and the requires hearing the voice.
THanks for the comments!

Hello. I used the video and my low was D3 and my high was C5. So, where does that place me? Contralto? Mezzo Soprano?

Thanks and BTW, the video is a wonderful tool.

divadevotee said...

@ms AlyCat i think you're most likely a contralto.

Hi. :) My range is from D3 to F5.
Where would that put me?
Thank you.

Unknown said...

Hi, there!
I could sing from A2 to B5, and I've been told that I'm an Alto 2 or Alto 1, but some Alto is pretty high. I could sing high too, but I could sing very high, but not like middle-high, if that makes sense? Anyways, I'm the lowest female singer I know. (Celebrities not included.) And, I'd just like to know... What I am? (:
Thanks! <3

Hello! My range is E3-A5 i usually sing soprano sooo... yeah just wondering :P

Unknown said...

I am female and my range is D2- A4, but the chart says that is a bass range, and for males, so I'm confused. I have kind of a deep normal voice, but can sometimes go a bit higher if I want to. What range would I be then?

Unknown said...

Hello
I'm new to singing. I just bought singorama am trying to find my range before getting too far into the program. It looks like my range is between F2 and B4. Mind you I am a total nube so it's possible i got things wrong. I am told my speaking voice is somewhat deep but when I'm uncomfortably or nervous it goes higher.
What range would i be?

Hello my name is Karin. I done the video and my vocal range is F3-D5 so what's my voice type please reply me

Unknown said...

Hello, my name is Gracie. My vocal range is about 2 octaves and 3 notes (E3-A5). I very rarely hit C3 and higher than B5, but those rare notes are when I've finished singing at least half of the songs on my iPod (I have 50 songs). Also, sometimes I can speak like man so I can fool people, and I even fooled my mom! :P So can you tell me my vocal range please? Thanks :)

G4 and C3... what is my vocal range?

Anonymous said...

Ok do I am a young Opera singer. My bottom note is a B2 and my highest is an A5 . Would that make me a Soprano?

Unknown said...

Actually, I think I'm a soprano now because I can't go that low anymore..... But I can go higher....

Anonymous said...

I can go from middle c all the way to e2 but my voice breaks with anything above middle c

Anonymous said...

a3 to c4 what am i??

Anonymous said...

This is only a ball park. Range in one thing, tessitura is another. I am a soprano and can sing comfortably and audibly a C3 and comfortably but less audibly a B2, as well as a F5. Many mezzo friends of mine can sing as high as me, but not as low. Just depends on physiology and control.

Jane Blake said...

Hi, what means D3 - G5, going more higher with a little of belt i can reach an A5?

Anonymous said...

Hey, I am Adam. Am obviously a guy. Am 18. My voice is bit lighter than most guys (not feminin though) and I can sing from E2 to G5 (sometimes A6) in head voice, and my falsetto tends to E6 without strain. My chest voice stretches to an A5 and more confortable at singing at the top of the 4th octave at least. I've been told by my vocal coaches and some friends that am countertenor. What am exactly please???

Unknown said...

Hi , I'm Glenn and I'm 17. I haven't had vocal training (yet!), and at the moment my range is F2 - C5. Is that any good? Do you think it would be worthwhile for me to go to singing lessons?

I can sing from

My low note was D3 and my high note was G5... Any idea what I am?

Hey, great website! Okay, I've got a situation:
My voice teacher and I have had some disagreements.
When I was in fourth grade, she always put me as alto, and alto sang pretty low, since.she didn't have tenors or basses.
But I decided to switch to soprano in sixth grade, because I started getting really uncomfortable as an alto. But she was always asking me to go back to alto during class. I'm in the 8th grade now and she's kind of accepted it, I guess.
Recently, as we have to every year, our class auditioned for the AllState Choir. When I was making my tape, mu voice teacher kept saying that I shouldn't audition for soprano because I sang too breathy. Turns out, a friend of mine and I were the only ones to get in- both soprano. She was really upset.

Anyway, I tested myself, and I can sing from B3 to C6, but if I warm up really well, I can sing down to F3 or up to D6. Truly, I can "belt" up to about C5, but I am MUCH more comforable singing along then lines of B4-B5. So what do you think I should truly be singing?

Unknown said...

I go from A2 to B4 with my regular voice. I'm a girl and I'm 18. What would that be? In chorus they put me with alto I but that doesn't make things much clearer. I would be grateful if you could clear it up for me. Thanks!:)

Maria said...

I go from a D3 to a C6, what wouldthat be? Thanks! :-)

Anonymous said...

I have a D3-A5 and am female. Mind you, that's about a year out of practice. What's my range?

Anonymous said...

My voice range goes from F2 to about C5 and starts sounding like a squirrel at about D5. Hehe.

So what would my voice range be? I'm female and I've been placed as everything from alto to soprano. Soprano is literal torture and alto is pretty difficult and makes me feel hoarse after a bit.

So what would my vocal range be?

Many thanks,
Anon.

Hey Guys, sorry about not replying- I dont check this website any more. Best thing to do would be to head over to Divadevotee.com and asking someone in the chatbox there for their help- actually it's the same one that's on this site (just noticed). Hi. I love your website. It really helps musically-greedy-people like me. Just to leave a question that has always been bothering me for years, i know you can help me about this. Well, when i was 12yrs old i used to sing with a very light lyric-soprano like tone without any power in my voice, but when i reached the age of thirteen my voice started to change to raspy-airy tone with a much powerful vocals and i started to sing as low as C2 and sang to B7 too. My classmates are even shocked whenever i sing belting songs and whistling songs then start singing like a bass, having a duet with myself, but the problem is i don't know my range, they said i'm an alto, but i could also change ranges. Thanks P.s i'm a fifteen-year-old guy.

I'm 15 and I can reach from E2 to E6...
So may I know my vocal range?
